Beauty Marks Boudoir : Mentally & physically prepare for your boudoir session!

Preparing for a boudoir session involves both physical and mental readiness to ensure you feel confident and comfortable during the shoot. Here's a week-long guide to help you prepare:

Physical Preparation:

1. Hydration:

  • Drink plenty of water throughout the week to keep your skin hydrated and your energy levels up.

2. Skincare:

  • Stick to your regular skincare routine to maintain the health and appearance of your skin.

  • Avoid trying new skincare products that could cause irritation or breakouts.

  • Moisturize your entire body from head to toe starting 7 days before your session date. You will love the glow.

3. Hair Removal and Grooming:

  • IF YOU CHOOSE to wax or shave, do so a few days before the session to avoid redness or irritation. Need Recommendations? Sara or Jenna got you covered!

  • Trim and shape your eyebrows if you feel it's necessary.

  • Consider getting a haircut or styling your hair in a way that makes you feel confident and glamorous.

4. Fitness and Exercise: What? Why bring this up?

  • Many guests mention they wish they would have stretched before or after. So, now I recommend both. Engage in light exercises like yoga or stretching to relax your body and mind.

  • Avoid intense workouts that could leave you sore or fatigued on the day of the session.

Mental Preparation:

1. Positive Affirmations:

  • Practice positive self-talk and affirmations to boost your confidence and self-esteem.

  • Remind yourself of your unique beauty and qualities.

  • You are worthy of this session. Right here and now! Come own your unique beauty and have the best self celebrating session day!

2. Visualize Success:

  • Visualize yourself feeling confident, comfortable, and empowered during the boudoir session that we designed together just for you.

  • Imagine the vibes and expressions that you want to showcase during the shoot and if that feels like too much, rest in confidence that I have you covered to model, mirror and walk you through the poses, ideas we've talked about. You can turn your brain off and be fabulous!

3. Relaxation Techniques:

  • Practice relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, meditation, or mindfulness to calm any nerves or anxiety.

  • I do a phone or in-person consultation with studio tour and a wardrobe fitting day as a way for you to meet me twice before the session day. A very helpful way to relax some of those pre session day nerves.

  • On session day, one of my favorite hair and makeup professional comes to us at the studio, we crank your favorite tunes and have 1 more hour to chat and shake out the rest of those nerves.

  • You could even consider scheduling a massage or spa treatment to pamper yourself and ease tension. ( Bonus, if you picked massage while checking out, you get one right after your photoshoot ends too!)

4. Communicate with Your Photographer:

  • Communicate openly with me about your preferences, concerns, and any insecurities you may have. There is a question on the check out form and I will check in with you during your consultation. Creating you dream session is very important to me. The studio and your conversations with me are a safe place to be your true you! or someone else, if that is the goal! wink

  • Discuss the mood, style, and poses you're comfortable with to ensure the session meets your desires. I will always recommends creating a mood board if you are having trouble putting into words what you feel.

5. Wardrobe Selection:

  • Choose outfits that make you feel confident, sexy, and comfortable. Unless that is not THE vibe. ha! We will talk all about your vibe during your consult.
